What do you do best? What is it that makes YOU different from the person next to you right now or even across from you? What is the one thing that makes you different that makes you who you are? In my experience, I have learned that every person has a gift or a talent that makes them great. For example, I think my dad is a great carpenter. He has been doing it since he was 15 years old. I know very talented singers, great artists, and passionate teachers. If you notice all these people have one thing in common: they are great at what they do!
But what good is it if you’re good at something and do nothing with it?
My New Year’s resolution is to use all the talents and abilities God has given me to help those who need help. I have made it my mission to, at least make a difference in one person’s life with my photography talent. There may be a family who has never been able to afford something as simple as a family portrait… and I can bless them by providing them with this service. Or I can even provide a portrait to a person who has never had their picture taken. Something as simple as this could make a difference in one person’s life.
Now the question is, “What difference will you make with what has been given to you?”
· If you’re a plumber, do you know a senior citizen who can’t afford for someone to come and fix their faucet?
· Are you a mechanic who can fix someone’s car who can’t afford to get their car fixed?
· If you’re a person who has been financially blessed, why not bless someone who may be in need of groceries?
The point I’m trying to make is why not use the one thing you are great at to make a difference in this New Year? Let’s stop living for us and let’s live for others. Don’t be remembered for how great you were at what you knew, but be remembered as person who actually made a difference in others!
I want to be a person who didn’t seek greatness but who seeked to be great in others. I want to be remembered as someone who made a positive difference...
Proverbs 3:26-28
27 Whenever you are able,
do good to people who need help.
28 If you have what your neighbor asks for,
don't say, "Come back later.
I will give it to you tomorrow."
